CLAIRE WHEELDON

British artist Claire Wheeldon paints abstract works that incorporate an intuitive practice and explore landscape and memory. Raised in the English countryside and young adult life spent in London she has spent the last 17 years working in fashion as a creative director and now resigns in Los Angeles.

Painting started as a creative outlet working exclusively in acrylic and experimenting with three dimensional textures, facilitating a non linear story. Inspired by the effects of time on man-made structures that - whilst first intended to be solely functional, not alluring - exhibit imperfections providing texture, beauty and an insight into their history. Everything is, or shall be, layered with detail imparted by the elements, human interaction and natural decay - nothing is untouched by the progress of time. It is this organic beauty  that Claire recreates through her work.
