Merchant Modern is pleased to invite Jonathan Cross as our second artist-in-residence, launching with a special window installation for L.A. Design Weekend: Sculptures "In The Window".  Known for his brutalist forms and architectural sensibility, Cross creates hand-carved clay sculptures, each wood-fired in the High Desert, California. Raw, grounded, and intentional, his work transforms our Atwater Village storefront into a study of material, weight, and space activating the space.

 

We invite you to visit the window and explore the store, featuring a curated selection of Los Angeles–based artists alongside unique vintage sculptures and midcentury modern design. Join us to celebrate the launch of Cross’s residency, explore the shop, and enjoy a drink during the weekend festivities.
