Claverol Studio
"My work is rooted in the post-consumer packaging, I reconsider the systems, build sculptural shapes revealing the tension between the ephemeral and the enduring. It is not only a continuation of the life of materials, but a rebellion against speed, disposability the erasure of the craft." - Claverol
Claverol Studio is the creative practice of Meritxell Claverol, a visual artist born in Pallars Jussà, Catalonia, and currently based in Los Angeles. Claverol begins their work with post-consumer materials, drawn to objects that have already passed through someone else’s hands — items destined to disappear. Centering paper as a primary medium, they reclaim wrappings, cardboard, and other discarded fragments from everyday life. These materials, often overlooked, form the foundation of a practice rooted in reuse and quiet observation.
Paper holds a particular resonance in the artist’s work. It is humble, accessible, and widely democratized — yet beneath its fragility lies surprising resilience. Paper absorbs, folds, breaks down, and rebuilds. It carries memory: retaining ink, creases, and the marks of previous use. For the artist, each scrap tells a story that isn’t theirs, and that history becomes part of the work itself. Rather than beginning from zero, they choose to begin with what has already been something else. Through sculptural forms, the artist explores the tension between the ephemeral and the enduring. The practice becomes a kind of rebellion against speed, waste, and the erasure of craftsmanship with the ending product as these incredible sculptures that live on.
