A blink-shaped opening is carved into stone and filled with damar, a natural tree resin. The work brings together the permanence of stone and the translucence of resin, holding memory as a fleeting trace of life between presence and absence.
 
Mieko Akutsu: Born in Japan and based in Los Angeles, she explores perception, time, memory, and the fragile boundary between presence and absence. Through drawing, stone, sound, and video, she records fleeting experiences—particularly the blink—as a way of making visible what usually passes unnoticed.
