Handmade Custom Frame (reclaimed wood)

In Japan, hiking trails are often marked with colored tape tied to trees to guide hikers through the landscape. After once losing my way in the mountains, I came to see these markers not simply as navigational tools, but as evidence of humanity's intervention in nature. They are traces of human presence embedded within the landscape. This project examines the relationship between humans and nature through the act of marking. As I move through the landscape, I attach tape to trees, repeating the same gesture of intervention that originally inspired the work. The route that emerges is never predetermined. Only when viewed from a distance does the accumulation of these gestures reveal a larger form. The work asks where guidance ends and intervention begins, and how even the smallest human actions reshape our perception of nature.
